Moclips-By-The-Sea Historical Society & MuseumMoclips is a remote destination located 20 miles north of Ocean Shores and next to sister city Pacific Beach. The last public beach access before the Quinault Nation, Moclips offers a spectacular setting directly on historic Moonstone Beach. The Moclips-By-The-Sea group is an ambitious organization represented by several generations of citizens who have generated rich content on the events of the past. The group focuses on all artifacts from the North Beach of the Washington Coast, including Ocean Shores, Pacific Beach and the Quinault Indian Nation. The 2005 Moclips Centennial is also being planned. In 1905, Dr. Ed Lycan built the largest Hotel/Resort north of San Francisco at this site only to have a fire destroy it in 1907. He re-built only to have the Great Storm of 1911 wash it away. Nonetheless, he did manage to get the Northern Pacific Railroad to make Moclips it's western terminus. There is also a wonderful relationship with the Dole Pineapple plantations of Hawaii. We publish a quarter newsletter and have amassed a full inventory of vintage pictures and other physical artifacts housed in our new Museum of the North Beach located in Moclips. We regularly purchase important artifacts on EBay. The group, as of January 2003, includes 185 dues paying members and is growing monthly.
