The Harris Group
The Harris Group was incorporated in October 1996 and received its 501c3 status in March 1997.
The Harris Group is a disability organization that educates and motivates the disabled and able-bodied community through media productions. We use multi-media productions, i.e.: videos and newspaper to educate and motivate all persons regarding disability issues. We want to influence the way society views disabled persons. -- Your donation will help.
The President's Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities has reported that there are 53 million disabled persons in American or 1 out 10 families are faced with someone who has a disability. Those statistics are disturbing, but true. The Harris Group wants to change the way persons with disabilities are viewed.
The White House says of The Harris Group: "Your work to educate the community about disability issues is vital...we commend your efforts."
In 1999, Maria Harris, President, envisions producing specialized videos, such as: "How To Find Employment if your Disabled" This type of programming will educate those who don't know how the system works, and give inspiration to those who have given up. The Harris Group plans to distribute them to the disabled and their families at a nominal or at no cost. These videos can make an impact. The Harris Group can do it - but we need help.
