Cameroon Education Corporation - RCSS
Imagine not being able to pursue your dreams just because you failed one examination! This is what happens to thousands of youths in Cameroon and other African nations today.
The root of the problem is the educational system which is inflexible and unable to accommodate the thousands of youths who fall out of the mainstream. Students who fail the government common entrance examination are ignored and discarded by the system. In the Southwest Province, in 1995, out of 7098 who sat, 5064 (71.6%) passed. Therefore, that year, at least 2000 students were unable to get into secondary schools. Failure rates like these (about half of who are female) have persisted for decades. Can you imagine the number of youths affected if you put together the ten provinces in the nation?
The mission of the Cameroon Education Corporation (CEC) is to build the Remedial Comprehensive Secondary School (RCSS) which will re-orient these youths through remedial education. They will also be trained in vocational, and small business careers. This will enable them become self-sufficient upstanding citizens who can assist in the economic recovery of their communities.
The project is ready. The time is now. However, we need funds to get started. Year after year, thousands of Cameroon youths are compelled to abandon their hopes for further education. They become economic burdens on their families, or more often vagabonds, beggars, and even worse, thieves on the streets. The situation is desperate. Our need for support is urgent.
We want you to know exactly what will be accomplished with your donation today. Your tax-deductible gift will help cover the cost of building classrooms, purchasing computers, and other learning materials. The sooner we raise the funds, the sooner we can begin to restore hope in these youths.
When classrooms and other facilities have been erected, 100 students will be enrolled in the first class. The enrollment will steadily increase to a capacity of 1000. Courses to be offered include: English, Math, Reading, Writing, Business management, PC repair, Computer Information Systems, Plumbing, Commercial agriculture, Secretarial administration, Beauty & Cosmetology, Electronics, Bookkeeping, and more.
Please take a moment to send your gift. When you donate, you will be recognized as one of the "FRIENDS OF RCSS". But the best benefit of all is the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped shine a ray of light in the future of young Cameroonians.
