Matthews Association
To serve as the catalyst for creating, linking, and supporting community-based partnerships that work to improve the health and nutrition as well as the quality of life of communities in Pennsylvania.
- Strengthen role as statewide advocate for healthy communities.
- Mobilize restaurants and corporate systems as leaders and partners in the healthy communities movement.
- Coach community change processes and community mobilization.
- Provide leadership and collaborate with diverse public, private, church and nonprofit organizations.
- Coaching community Change- Educational activities include:
- Customized Educational Programs and Presentations
- Sponsorship of the Pennsylvania Healthy Communities Summit
- Health & Nutrition Communities Newsletter
- Consultant/Facilitation Support- the staff has diverse expertise and can assist leaders in
communities, new and mature partnerships, nutrition care, business, government, and other arenas by
providing:
- Individual and Group Consultation
- Partnership, community and Leadership Development
- Meeting Facilitation
- Strategic Planning
- Legislative and Regulatory Assistance
- Foundation/Grants - Working in conjunction with regional grant makers and Philabundance as well as USDA and Philadelphia Food Bank, the Association assists partnerships in identifying potential funding sources and distributes food to the low-income and needy.
- Funding Strategies for Community non-profit Corporation.
- National, State, and Local Partnerships- The Association is actively working with national, state, and local organizations, including Pennsylvania Public Health Association, USDA, Philabundance, and National Coalition of Healthier Cities and Communities.
