PantheraUnlike any other conservation organization in the world, Panthera's sole mission is the range-wide conservation of the world's 36 species of wild cats - many of which are critically endangered. Panthera's large scale initiatives with tigers, lions, jaguars and snow leopards currently involve more than 50 countries and span three continents. Our core strategies are grounded in rigorous scientific research, political engagement with heads of state and national land-use agencies, and education and outreach activities for local communities living in areas with big cats. Panthera focuses on saving wild cat species across the globe because this is a winning strategy for conserving vast landscapes, ecosystem functions, and the preservation of human health and livelihoods. Cats act as landscape guardians, and their presence indicates healthy, intact ecosystems that are crucial for all life- including people. While Panthera's focus is streamlined, the impacts go far beyond just saving cats. Visit the Panthera home page. |
