Ofappit Institute of TechnologyThe main goal of OFAPPIT INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (OITECH) is to revitalize and promote mathematics, mathematical sciences and mathematical research. The institution is committed to search for and to discover mathematical aptitudes, talents and interests in young people as well as adults with the goal of nourishing such gifts to the logical and needed maturity. It is part of the goal of OFAPPIT Institute of Technology to use that campaign to constructively, positively and significantly contribute to the technological development and productivity, the main ingredients of human harmony, in this nation and the world. OFAPPIT Institute of Technology's Youth Research Institute works with high school students and their teachers through a mentoring program in which youngsters are paired with nationally and internationally recognized research mathematicians to work on mathematical research. This program provides an environment in which role model relationships are developed between the young students and the distinguished professors. This program involves both regular class room instruction and distanced learning type instruction. The credits gained in this program could be utilized towards degree programs in OFAPPIT Institute of Technology or other universities. OFAPPIT Institute of Technology has developed a very aggressive program in which pure and applied mathematicians work together cordially, constructively and productively on practical mathematical problems in a cooperative manner. One of the major goals of this program is to demonstrate that every mathematician whether pure or applied is very valuable in the process of solving practical real life problems. One of the goals here is to dismiss the myth that the "pure" mathematician is too abstract to be useful and that the "applied" mathematician is not a "real" mathematician. OFAPPIT Institute of Technology seeks to define all mathematics as being "applied", in terms of being useful. OFAPPIT, therefore, hopes that this philosophy would foster a more productive relationship between mathematics professionals and the employment institutions such as the corporate world, the government etc. This way more mathematicians are produced and a lot more are hired to do productive work. In other words, the implementation of OITech's mathematical program should lead to a greater demand and supply of mathematicians as well as a better appreciation and respect for mathematicians. The faculty includes some of the leading mathematicians and experts with national and international reputations in the fields of Mathematical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Physical and Engineering Sciences. OFAPPIT Institute of Technology 's courses in Mathematics, Computational Mathematics, Computer Science, Physical Sciences and Engineering Sciences are geared toward undergraduate and graduate degrees. NYS Department of Education approval is pending. Credits earned in the program are honored and transferrable to other Universities such as the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
