Leadership Training InstituteAs the new year dawns, so is hope that this will be the year that a collaborative network of faith-based and community-based organizations take into account that 1.5 million adults incarcerated in state and federal prisons are parents of minor children. In addressing this chilling fact, Leadership Training Institute, (LTI) a non-profit educational research and operations organization based in Hempstead, New York and it's Mentoring Children of Promise program, (MCP) a United States Department of Health and Human Services initiative for children of prisoners, designed to provide one-on-one mentoring by screened and trained adult volunteers meeting one hour weekly with Long Island children of incarcerated parents between the ages of 4 to 18. The primary objective of this program is to create and sustain quality, long lasting relationships with trusted caring adults that promote positive outcomes for children of prisoners. LTI requests your assistance to inform inmates who are Long Island parents about the program. Please feel free to visit our website at www.ltiny.org. You can contact me at 516-483-3400 ext. 32 with any questions or comments regarding LTI's MCP program. Very truly,
