LifeScape InternationalLifeScape International, Inc., a new conservation organization, is committed to promoting the sustainable integration of culturally-diverse human needs with the needs of the natural world. In particular, we are committed those activities leading to the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of biodiversity. Our efforts are global in scope and focus on those ecosystems in critical need of protection and/or restoration, as well as those species considered vulnerable, threatened, endangered, or otherwise in conflict with local human needs and/or practices. It is LifeScape’s ultimate aim to preserve wildlife, habitats, and indigenous cultures by addressing the underlying root causes of the threats posed to them, while concurrently reconciling the needs of an increasingly industrialized society with those of the natural world. Among the ways we will achieve these ends are by:
LifeScape’s Critically Endangered Species Program will address the needs of those species at or below the critical threshold necessary to maintain long-term genetic and evolutionary viability. It is a multi-faceted program targeting species and subspecies of all candidate taxa, including but not restricted to, less charismatic and familiar fauna such as fish, invertebrates, and plants. The critically endangered status of species as designated by LifeScape will be assessed according to their biological parameters as well as by weighted consideration to their status as listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the largest international consortia of non-profit entities, volunteer researchers, and specialists in the conservation community. Among some of the conservation tools employed to address the needs of critically endangered species will be educational campaigns, land acquisition strategies, ecosystem management and restoration strategies, and captive breeding programs. In the future, LifeScape International will continue to develop new programs in flux with the changing face of conservation science and the conservation community, continue to improve upon and reassess those programs and projects already in place, and openly pursue and embrace new partnerships in our fight to integrate nature and humanity for a sustainable future. |
