Just One Break, Inc. (JOB)Mission Statement Just One Break, Inc is the nation's oldest not-for-profit employment service for people with disABILITIES. JOB was founded in 1947 by Dr. Howard Rusk, Bernard Baruch, Orin Lehman and Eleanor Roosevelt, as a response to the post-war environment of World War II and the employment needs of disabled American War Veterans. Today, our mission is to find competitive employment for qualified people with disABILTIES through partnerships with companies in all industries. JOB breaks down barriers faced by the disabled and helps them lead independent lives through meaningful employment. JOB matches skilled candidates with leading corporations. The disabled bring new ideas and innovative thinking, to problem solving in the workplace. JOB has had five Executive Directors in its fifty-three year history. The organization is financially stable, has a reserve fund, and an active Board of Directors and Director Business Advisory Committee Board of Fortune 500 Companies. JOB's Directors Business Advisory Committee (DBAC) was established in 1992 with members representing human resources management teams from leading corporations. The committee meets regularly, promoting positive national awareness about people with disABILITIES in the workplace through the development of training programs, networking, and promotion of JOB and expanding its base of potential employers, sources and funding and program outreach. Program support is derived solely from gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and individuals. Placement programs are provided to applicants and employers free of charge.
