IMANI HOUSE, Inc.
IMANI HOUSE is a 15 years old tax exempt organization with its head office in Brooklyn. The goal of IMANI HOUSE is to assist low income youth, families and immigrants to reach a level of empowerment that will free them to make their own decisions, improve their lives and enhance their communities. We sponsor programs in Brooklyn, New York, and Liberia West Africa.
IMANI HOUSE has received numerous awards and commendations, including an award of excellence from Laubach Literacy, Food Pantry of the Year from Food for Survival, Proclamation for IMANI HOUSE Day in NYC by Manhattan Borough President and others. We have also received commendations from the United States Ambassador to Liberia, the former President of Liberia, UNICEF and others for our work there presently and during its long and devastating war.
In Brooklyn programs include:
- Adult Literacy,
- English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL),
- Family Literacy and Parenting,
- Job Readiness,
- Food Distribution to the elderly and families and
- Bias and Violence Prevention programs for Youth
- A Maternal and Child Health Clinic which offers in addition immunization, a dentist, laboratory and preventive health classes;
- Adult Literacy programs in two locations that cater to market women and
- Agricultural Training.
IMANI HOUSE works mainly with volunteers and is a registered USAID PVO as well as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization registered in New York. All donations are tax deductible.
