Global Children
Global Children is a charitable, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the welfare of children, families and communities in need. Our primary purpose is to help create a better quality of life for these children and families through the implementation and support of culturally appropriate projects that nurture and improve their emotional, educational, medical, social and cultural well-being. Global Children will also partner with other non-profit organizations and committed individuals that can help us to meet our goals.
Cambodia:
Orphanage~Performing Arts Project providing youth with the opportunity to engage in an integral part of their culture through traditional music, dance and song. This program provides the orphan population in Cambodia the opportunity to study mahowry music and apsara dance.
Professional Development and Education Scholarship Program: Education for Building a Brighter Future. The Program provides scholarships to Cambodians who are committed to giving back to their communities. Eligible opportunities range from formal education at law or medical school to non-profit management training and professional development.
Jamaica:
The Jamaica Community Education Project (JECP)
In partnership with Mary Rives and Keith Carlson of Amherst, MA, Global Children assists rural Jamaicans in the following areas:
- Children’s educational support : scholarships for rural children to complete secondary school in preparation for productive adult lives.
- Young people’s vocational support : vocational training and scholarships for young Jamaicans eager to pursue meaningful work.
- Support for abandoned children (aka: The Fabian Fund): tutoring, recreation, and developmental guidance for orphaned and abandoned children living in orphanages or hospital wards.
- Adult vocational and education support : scholarships and training for rural adults seeking education and vocational enrichment for the purpose of breaking the cycle of poverty, thus improving the lives of children and families.
