The Cardamom ProjectThe Cardamom Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in New York City that helps to protect the Cardamom Mountains region in southwest Cambodia from environmental damage caused by logging, the hunting and poaching of wildlife, and land-clearing. Ignored for decades due to war, this remote region is the last true wilderness remaining in mainland Southeast Asia. It has an exceptionally high degree of biological diversity, including many globally threatened species such as Indochinese tiger, Asian elephant, and Siamese crocodile. It also forms a critical watershed for agriculture and fishing, the economic staples of Cambodia. We do this by raising awareness and funds that go directly to the ongoing conservation effort. We also work to make the Cardamoms and their preservation an avenue for national renewal for Cambodians after years of extreme hardship. We do this through environmental education programs that inform Cambodians on and involve them in this precious part of their nation. Visit the The Cardamom Project home page. |
