Arts & Business Council Inc.Founded in 1965, the Arts & Business Council promotes the mutuality of arts and business partnerships. strengthening the two sectors through programs that serve the fullest diversity of individuals, organization, and communities. The Council's programs and services fall into four broad categories: -Voluntarism: In New York and cities around the country, the Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) program recruits, trains, and places business professionals as pro bono management consultants with nonprofit arts organizations. -Information and Management Services: The eight-city American Express National Arts Marketing Project provides marketing training and financial support for small to mid-sized arts organizations. The Arts-to-Business Databank (A2B) is a web-based program that disseminates information on the many services arts organizations can offer businesses, including facility rental, sponsership and volunteer opportunities, and client/employee entertainment. Other programs include arts-specific workshops and issue forums. -Convening and Celebration: Through it's annual Fall Gala Dinner and Spring Encore Awards Luncheon, the Council recognizes excellence in arts management, business support of the arts (including voluntarism), and artistic acheivement. -Professional and Career Development: Council activities include a graduate-level fellowship program designed to attract candidates from diverse cultural backgrounds, as well as ArtsWork NY, an arts management job listing service.
