Hope Ofiriha
Hope Ofiriha is a Sudanese based charity involved with education, environment projects and healthcare in Lofiriha, Magwi County. They are providing opportunities for those looking to volunteer in southern Sudan. Our charity is registered both in Sudan and Norway.
Most of the pupils have passed their exams to go to primary 4, but the closest one is 26km away. There are no school buses and all of them do not have a bicycle, so they will have to walk 52km per day just to go to and from the school.
HOPE Ofiriha is trying to raise funds to build a new school locally at Lofiriha as permanent structures. The District Education Officer at Magwi County has confirmed that, if Hope Ofiriha can build the structures, the government will supply the teachers, desks and books. Although Hope Ofiriha currently sponsors about four pupils to attend primary education in Uganda, this new facility will provide a much needed opportunity for all of the local children in Lofiriha community.
In the future, we hope to develop a vocational training centre within the same facility to teach women practical skills which can be used locally in the community.
