Mission of SWEAD:
- To promote the interests and all round welfare of all the socially, educationally, economically, politically and culturally oppressed women of Tamil Nadu especially Cuddalore District.
- To enable the oppressed women of Cuddalore District to realize and fulfill their responsibilities in themselves, in Society to the country and to the world.
- To encourage grassroots level women to work towards social change and create a just social order.
- To promote sustainable livelihood for the poor and oppressed women.
- To protect women’s rights.
Major Accomplishment of SWEAD:
- We have formed 30 women self help groups with a membership of 600 untouchable(Scheduled Caste) dalit women. Spread over 18 villages in Kammapuram and Melbuvanagiri blocks Cuddalore District and these members of the self help groups have been engaged in small savings, internal landing collective income generation activities. These groups saved an amount of Rs.1,49,515/- collectively They gave lending for small enterprises for their members such petty shops, fish vending fruits and vegetable vending Hover vending etc., SWEAD organization is giving Rs. 8,00,000/- to the 30 groups and they gave away Rs. 75,000/- as loans to their members.
- In Siruvarappur and Pavalangudi Villages a dalit hamlet remained without drinking water for years (The piglet especially women must go to 2 to 3 k. meters for drinking water) The self help groups with the help of SWEAD approached the District Collector Cuddalore for drinking water facilities and the collector immediately Ordered for 3 Construction of over head Drinking water tank with Bore wells . Women sense their incest for collective
- We trained 25 dalit poor women in knitting coconut coir Rope 150 adolescent girls trained in tailoring and we enabled 40 trained girls to avail free sewing machines worth of Rs. 1,10,000/- from the state government social welfare Board. and we trained so The Tsunami affected Irulas women ( the most vulnerable in Indian caste system) in palm leaf craft production for their Income generation.
This organization has informed us they are qualified under their local country tax law to receive tax deductible contributions.
