Society for Community Action Network-India (SCAN-INDIA)
Society for Community Action Network-India (SCAN-INDIA) is a registered non-profit, charitable organization came into existence in the year 1995. This organization holds the non-profit status and entitled to receive tax deductible contributions. The magnitude of poverty, illiteracy, unemployment and drought Chittoor district was the major driving force behind establishing this organization by the founder and his team.
SCAN-INDIA began its interventions by addressing the problems of the poor and the underprivileged by creating opportunities for them to improve their health, education and socio-economic conditions. Scan is committed to serve all sections of underprivileged people irrespective of caste, colour, creed, gender or religion.
The mission of the organization is to improve the living conditions and quality of life of the poor and the under-privileged, through education, health care and economic development activities.
The following are the major programmes and activities of SCAN-INDIA:
- Day care centres (cr¸ches) for children
- Adult literacy programmes
- Environmental awareness & education
- General Health check-up camps for the rural/urban poor
- Vocational skill trainings for the unemployed youth (computers, tailoring, carpentry, electrical and electronics etc,)
- Women empowerment programmes
- Programmes on hygiene and safe drinking water
- School for the underprivileged children
- Youth leadership training & family life education
- HIV/AIDS awareness and counseling etc,.
