Ramakrishna Mission Tuberculosis Sanatorium
The Sanatorium which was opened in 1951 with 32 beds, had 280 beds last year with several ancillary departments, including a diary and an agricultural farm for the benefit of the patients. Its activities are:
- An in-patient department which treats about 500 male TB cases annually, with about 300 cases being treated free of charge and 200 at concessional rates.
- An out-patient department which treats about 29000 cases annually, 27000 of them free-of-charge.
- An out-patient homoeopathic department which treats about 5800 cases all free annually
- A mobile dispensary which treats about 18000 cases all free annually.
- A library with 5210 books and 27 newspapers and periodicals for in-patients, staff
- A free middle school (Hindi medium) for the local adivasi (tribal) and backward class children (about 250 boys and 170 girls), and
- Observance of the birthday celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and Swami Vivekananda, Jesus Christ and religious festivals like Jagaddhatri Puja etc.
All donations made in India are exempt from income tax u/s 80G of the IT Act, 1961. Please send in your kind contributions by cheques/drafts in the name of "Ramakrishna Mission TB Sanatorium, Dt. Ranchi".
In the case of donors in the USA, you can route your donations through ASTI (American Service To India). Your kind contributions will then be deductible for U.S. tax purposes under IRC 501(c)(3).

Our Urgent Needs:
- Permanent Fund for 1 (one) poor TB patient at Indoor in perpetuity: Rs. 2,00,000 (approx. $4,450 USD)
- Permanent Fund for one poor TB patient at Outdoor in perpetuity: Rs. 40,000 (approx. $890 USD)
- Welfare Fund for free milk to 100 poor school students for one day in perpetuity: Rs. 3,000 (approx. $67 USD)
- Repairs and renovation of Hospital buildings, staff quarters, dairy farm etc.: Rs. 14,00,000 (approx. $31,100 USD)
- Modernisation of Water and Electric Supply Systems including roads: Rs. 22,00,000 (approx. $48,900 USD)
