Rural Integrated Development TrustPoor women usually run their own individual economic activities very efficiently because of sheer survival pressure on them. But public policy support from the economy is usually absent or loaded against them so it is very difficult for poor women to improve their economic situation individually and alone. When interventions are made to strengthen women’s economic activities, it is very important to create the positive policy linkages for access to raw materials, markets, skills, space, credit and equipment etc. Without this policy support, the most efficiently managed economic activities find it difficult to generate more income for poor women. On the other hand, when intervention does not pay enough attention to good internal management of the economic activities for women, then inspiration of good public policy support in intervention designed for strengthening women’s economic activities becomes ineffective.
