Matha Socio Educational SocietyANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2009-2010 The President of Matha Socio Educational Society has the pleasure on presenting the annual report for the year 2009-2010. Matha Socio Educational Society is voluntary organization registered under A.P society registration act of 35 of 2001. MSES is a non profitable organization working for groups of poor who are living in rural areas. OUR VISION To care for the felt basic needs and priorities of the disadvantaged peoples, especially the women and children in vulnerable situation, thereby empower them towards their overall development and improve their quality of life, and build a better society. MATHA SOCIO EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY is a rural based, non-profit making voluntary organization, which provides capacity-building inputs to a range of community based organization. For more than four years, has been engaged in facilitating the social and economic empowerment of poor, marginalized women. Keeping in view of building a societal change process environment, launching sustainable struggle and movements collectively as well as independently at micro level and simultaneously linking with macro and international development cooperation system. This Annual Report of ours 2009-2010 briefly reflects all about us comprising our ideology, action approach achievements, attempts, manpower, academic capability, expertise and resources. I feel immense pleasure to place before, the regular Subscribers, Donors and the general public at large the Annual Report of Activities. The Society has along and excellent record of service in the field of imparting awareness on education, health care, social welfare and enlistment of the weaker section and general public of the society. The following activities were conducted by the organization during the year 2009-2010: Flood Relief Programme Kurnool& Mahaboobnagar Districts -
On 2nd of October, 2009 the Kurnool, district of Andhra Pradesh tasted the fury of nature. The incessant rains in the catchment areas of Hundri, Tungabhadra and Krishna rivers resulted in flash floods and wreaked havoc in the region. Nearly 80% of the area in Kurnool and Nandyal towns was inundated for more than 48 hours. The flood levels touched 15 ft in many of the areas adjacent to Hundri and Tungabadra rivers where most of the below middle class and poorer sections of the society dwell. In Kurnool district alone 11 mandals were severely affected. Though the human casualties are a few the damage caused to livestock crops, livelihoods, houses, house hold assets, small and medium business enterprises is beyond count. In Kurnool town 28 wards were totally submerged and 8 wards partially submerged. Nearly 30 thousand houses collapsed and 2.5 lakh people took shelter in relief camps for days together. In Nandyal town, 27 habitations were submerged but the human casualties are almost nil due to precautionary measures. The damage caused to the government offices, Hospitals (Government & Private), Public water supply system, Power supply infrastructure, Public transport system, Educational institutions, Banks and business establishments is irrecoverable.
