Manitham Trust
Manitham trust (Manitham means humane) is a nongovernmental organization. It is a regular non-profit organization registered as Manitham Trust under trust act and governed by a board of trustees, it is functioning from Dindigul District Tamil Nadu. The registration no of the trust is 316 of 2005, dated 13.10.2005. It is also registered under the 80G 12A of the Income tax act with the registration number of C.No.101/351/CIT-II/2007-08. The permanent account no is AABTM9541R. It is also registered under 80G of the Income Tax Act with C.No.102/351/CIT-II/2007-2010.
MANITHAM TRUST visualizes a child and women centered society which will be equalitarian, where human beings live in unity without any discrimination on the basis of caste, race and religion, language and gender.
The Mission of MANITHAM TRUST is to facilitate socially, economically, environmentally and politically disadvantaged people especially on Dalit and minority people’s organization at the grass root level and coordinate them so that they take up issues their own them selves and collectively find solutions for the development of their life marching forward to an equalitarian society. Children and women are at the heart of every thing we do.
Our Organization evolved during the 2004 tsunami scenario for the effects taken by our friends team to address the immediate need. We have continued our works among the children and women for their rights and development and we focused mostly on the disadvantaged communities of the Muslim minorities and Dalit communities. Here Muslim minority and Dalit women and all other down trodden are mostly illiterate, dependent with others, affected with early child marriage, lack of leadership skill, lack of awareness on government schemes and women laws. Hence they underwent poverty, health issues, environmental issues domestic violence, dowry issues, divorces, child labor, semi orphans, orphans and all form of violence. This situation affected directly the women as well as children.
MANITHAM TRUST was involved in the following child and women centered social activities among the disadvantaged in slum and rural areas of Dindigul District:
- Women and child rights awareness,
- Skill development programmes,
- Legal awareness programme,
- Community health programs,
- Income generation programs,
- Environmental awareness programmes,
- Children education support prorammes,
- Sponsor orphans and semi orphans & HIV affected and HIV affected family children,
- Counseling programmes etc.
We hope that you agree it is our responsibility to help and equip the above said people at least in our target areas. We can accomplish this through bringing the change we wish to see in our area, to reduce poverty, create economical opportunities, health and hygiene promotions to built healthy communities. We also want to promote gender equity to girls and women and to provide space for the children and women to enjoy their rights and have a chance to mobilize upward in society. We must support educational scholarships, sponsorships and provide the means and the awareness for girls to go to school. You can help MANITHAM TRUST make a difference in people's lives.
