INDIAN CHRISTIAN MISSION CENTRE is a registered charitable organisation, Interdenominational and
Evangelical
Mission Statement
The ICMC was established in 1988 with 12 orphans, today we have grown to over 1100 and are the
2nd largest orphanage in all India. Our aims are to provide, physical and spiritual health for these
children. By supplying them with shelter, food, clothing and education.
- Orphanages
- House Of Peace
The "Mission Centre" is the oldest of our centres. It now consists of several hostels in one district
of Salem, housing 300 children in total, between the ages of 12 and 22. They are cared for by 25
members of staff. This centre also contains our offices, St Basil School and the International Guest
House.
- Eden Garden
Eden Gardens" is the most recent of our hostels to be established. Situated on 11 acres of fertile
cultivated land it is still under construction, yet it already is called home by 350 children.
Presently the children have to walk a 10km round trip to get to school
- Promised Land
The "Promised Land" is situated on 70 acres of beautiful, 20kms outside salem at the foot of the
Yercaud Hills. It is already home to about 450 of the younger children. Still under construction, it
will eventually have the capacity to house 2000 children, with a chapel, two schools and a clinic on
site. The large area of fertile land is being cultivated with coconut trees and rice paddies, and it
is our aim that this centre will become increasingly self sufficient.
- Schools
- St.Basil matriculation school
Established in 1989, the school caters for children in the local community of Salem as well as a
number of the children from the House of Peace. It currently has only a primary section.
- St Neva Miller School
The St Neva Miller School is one of two schools located at the Promised Land. The school is opened to
fee paying external students as well as some of the orphans. All classes are conducted in English.
- Dr. Graham Staines Memorial School
The Dr. Graham Staines Memorial School is also located at the Promised Lands and caters for almost
400 orphan students, who also live at the Promised Land. The school was named in memory of Dr. Graham
Staines who was an Australian missionary who was killed in the Northern Indian State of Orissa.
- Missionary Training School
- Timothy Training School
The Timothy Training School is at the Promised Land site. It was founded recently as a missionary training centre, and it hosts the largest pastors' conference in India: (over 4000 pastors in 1999 from all over India and of all denominations). The goal is to train thousands of native missionaries to take the Gospel to unreached places throughout India through evangelism and church planting. There are millions of people in India who have never heard the gospel, and the great commission of Jesus Christ commands Christians to take the message to the ends of the earth. India is closed to foreign missionaries, so we must ensure that native Indians are equipped to carry out the task. The missionary training course last three months, after which the students return to their home churches to gain practical experience with their leaders there.
