HELPHELP is a non-governmental Development organization was formed by a group of academicians, professionals, journalists and gross root level workers in 1993. The main objective of HELP is to stop child prostitution, trafficking and second- generation prostitution. The goal of HELP is promoting social justice and social development in relation to issues of crime and victimization. HELP focuses on the long-term social change goal within the context of organized prostitution in the red-light areas of coastal Andhra Pradesh. HELP is based in red-light areas located in Chilkaluripet (Guntur Dist) & Ongole (Prakasam Dist). HELP works with all individuals/Groups involved in the phenomenon of prostitution, be they victims or perpetrators of prostitution. HELP sees the group of prostituted women as victims and various agents in the prostitution market such as brothel-keepers, pimps, customers, shop-keepers, etc., as perpetrators. HELP also perceives certain persons as vulnerable to prostitution, which is either vulnerability to being prostituted or vulnerability to becoming a perpetrator.
