Health Education And Rural Training Society (HEARTS)
HEARTS is a registered organization for charity purpose under the state law of Tamilnadu. We focus on special education,spiritual counseling, health care and rehabilitation for mentally challenged children and youths. We are also concentration on mobilizing rural women in to self help initiatives, train them in entrepreneurship and empower on economic and social aspects. We take care of the children education and prevention of child labor. We operate in 58 villages. We share the love of god and exhibit the compassion.
VISION
Working towards a transformed and sustainable society in which all people will be able to meet their basic needs on their own irrespective of caste creed and religion.
HEARTS is a not-for-profit, humanitarian, NGO dedicated to serve the poor and needy through development projects in which women, children and youths are able to gain knowledge and practice on human, child and women rights. The objectives of HEARTS are:
- Assist the poor marginalized and minority women gain empowerment in economic, social and political areas of life through self-help initiatives.(SHGs)
- Securing legal rights of differentially able person with autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple physical disabilities and promoting remedial, residential, special education, health care, rehabilitation and self-help behavior through special school, vocational training and community based rehabilitation programs.
- Assist children specially children to claim the rights for compulsory primary education, continue higher education, skill formation, development of individual talents and community participation through Evening Study Programs (ESPs)
- Assists the people have access to drinking water through appropriate water conservation and rain harvesting techniques.
- Assist the landless to claim rights for cultivable lands and train farmers in innovative farming like organic farming.
- Assist the people in gaining knowledge on environment concerns and alternative energy sources.
- Assist the youths gain skills in employable skill training and find out self-employment opportunities.
- Assists the people gain awareness on HIV/AIDS, rehabilitate children and women.
- 150 Self Help Groups (SHGs) with 2300 rural poor women
- 4 Evening Study Centers for 190 school going children
- 1 Residential School for 30 School Drop outs
- 1 Vocational Training Centers for 25 Disabled
- 2 Special Schools for 45 Mentally challenged children
