Hands of comfort is a registered charitable trust in India, Tamilnadu, we have 6 board members, the vision of the institution is to help and care the HIV/AIDS affected and infected people in India , to eradicate the bonded labor children, and to help the undeveloped communities by the way of community development programme.
As on today in India the places call Salem and Namakkal of Tamilnadu state is heavily affected by HIV/AIDS, so many children are working in the small scale industries , because of poverty parents pledged their children in the small scale industries, the small one has to work in the industries without any pay. These children suffer for food and because of poverty they will not go to school. Regarding the HIV/AIDS these tow places are heavily affected, report says that more than two lack population are affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in these areas. Due the sickness the affected and infected people are discarded by their relatives and friends. And regarding the community based programme we are concentrating in three villages, these village children are facing lot of difficulties for food and they were not able to go to school properly due to the financial crisis, the are not able to purchase note books and uniforms.
We as a team are doing charity work for these people. For HIV affected and infected people we have care giving programme. we have a children's home for the healthy children from HIV infected families. As on today we are taking care of 40 children in our centre. We give them free education, food, accommodation and clothing, and we are taking care of the infected people by keeping them in their respective houses by way of giving protein contained food materials and we give them counseling too.
We collect bonded labor children and bring them to our children's home to study and we give self-employment training to the parents so they can earn a earn little for their day to day expenses.
Regarding the community based programme, we help the poor children in the villages for their studies and we are doing community based programme in three villages (Kollapalayam, Varapalayam and Palayapalayam). These villages are in Thiruchencode Taluk of Namakkal district in Tamilnadu. They are very interior villages. There is no proper transport facilities to these villages. No one has yet gone to government jobs. These are very poor people and all are uneducated and we are helping the children in these villagers for their studies.
With the support of local friends and well-wishers we are doing this work. Day by day the need is increasing. Every day a lot of people are coming and asking help for their families and mainly for their children. As on today we are doing all this work in a rented building. Now we are planning to have all the programmes in one building with all facilities. For this particular cause we have planned to purchase land to construct our own building:
- Building for a children's home (for healthy children from HIV infected families)
- Separate building for care giving programme for HIV infected people
- Self employment training programme and center for community development programme.
