About Grissmaa
GRISSMAA is a registered non-profit secular voluntary organization in the year 1994. It is also registered with Government of India to receive foreign contributions from individuals, donor agencies, grant makers and corporate sectors. GRISSMAA is started by a group of service-minded grassroot members by the guidance of Mr. Daniel Raja. It was formed in the year 1994 with avowed aim of promoting the well being of disadvan6taged people. Since then it arrogated to itself the task of safeguarding the interest of women and children of untouchables and in Tamilnadu, South part of India. It is also engaged in various activities such as education, awareness and leadership training, established the system of micro-credit for daily wagers and providing supplementary education for school going children and to take child labourers to the main stream of education.
What We Do
- Address economic exploitation of rural women and impoverished rural children, child labor and other social issues.
- Implementing human rights education to promote awareness of human rights and fundamental importance.
- Emancipation of subjugated rural women and children from oppression, superstition and social stigma.
- Involving women in all community based developmental activities aimed at 'Sustainable change' where women will be the 'resource managers'.
- Ensuring the fundamental rights of women and children.
- Addressing the threats to biological diversity and the environment.
- Combating climate change and global warming.
- Ensuring aquatic and land rights of farmers and women groups in rural areas.
- Protecting mountain ecosystem, mountain biodiversity.
- Protecting Indigenous knowledge and Traditional practices of rural/indigenous people.
- Rehabilitating victims during natural calamities.
- Sensitizing target communities on global epidemics like HIV/AIDS etc, to ensure community health.
- Promoting Environmental Education among youths and women groups.
- Protecting water resources and other resources available in rural areas.
- Rehabilitating orphans, destitute women and children.
