Child and Old Age People Orphanage Welfare Society - COPWSChild and Old age People Orphanage Welfare Society (COPWS) is a God given vision. It was founded by a few evangelical Indian Christians and registered with the state government of Andhra Pradesh (AP), India, in 2005. The registration number is 49/2005. The COPWS is committed and dedicated to care for orphans and a few old people. The need for children's homes is great in India. In 2007, there were over 11 million abandoned children in India. Children are abandoned to die or survive by them selves in the streets by scavenging for food in restaurant trash bins. Many sleep on sidewalks, railway flat forms and other public places. A few kids beg. Some children commit suicide to escape from misery and abuse. Some are forced into child labor. From the streets, some children, especially girls would be kidnapped by international child traffickers and are sold abroad to wealthy where they end up as servants or in red light districts and forced into prostitution. MISSION As Christians we can offer these destitute children a chance to live with dignity and know the love of Christ. The Lord commanded us to love our neighbor. Who is our neighbor? One who is in need is our neighbor. Bible declares that pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble and to keep oneself unspotted from the world. (James 1:27). Our mission is to extend and reflect the love of the Lord Jesus Christ to the least of the children in India by offering a chance to live with human dignity. Our desire is to provide loving and secure environment with shelter, clothing and education to orphans and destitute children. VISION The Lord has given us a vision to build a home for the orphans and destitute children in Kamalapuram, Cuddapah district, Andhra Pradesh, India. Initially, it is intend to have a building to accommodate about 25 children and later on the building will be expanded to accommodate more children as the Lord provides. The building and the surroundings would provide a safe haven for the children and prevent them from falling into the evil hands. Temporarily, we are operating the orphanage in a small building and in need of large building. OUR RESOURCES We are a small group of faith based Evangelical Christians located in Cuddapah District AP, India. We have no support from the local government or foreign missions or churches in India. We live by faith and trust the Lord for His provision. We accept tax free gifts and charitable donations with gratitude. We are in the process of raising funds from individuals and charitable organizations to assist us in the construction of an orphanage to accommodate abandoned children who would otherwise have no shelter.
