Amalarakkini School For The BlindThe Congregation at a glance - Amalarakkini Special School & Hostel for the Blind was founded in August 1980 by Late. Rev. Bro. A. Thomas SHJ of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, an indigenous religious congregation founded in 1903 by a Jesuit French Missionary Rev. Fr. Adrian Cauussanal. The congregation has grown over the years and God has blessed it abundantly. Today, the Congregation has 200 professed brothers and 125 candidates in stages of formation. The mission and ministries of the Brothers of the congregation have spread far and wide in as many as 16 Dioceses of the four southern states of India. "Good News to the Poor in the Love of the Sacred Heart" is the Charisma of the congregation. The motto is "O Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, your Kingdom come", and building a better world, the God's kingdom is our ultimate aim. Philosophy -
The organizers of Amalarakkini Special School for the Blind have faith in the innate strength of the otherwise - able individuals. Their faith in the visually challenged persons has guided them to organize a Special School & Hostel to give them special education and training and help them develop into self-confident, self-reliant and self-determined individuals and thereby release them from a state of dependency.
