AGNI
Five youngsters on a fine one morning while chatting started to share their dreams and duties that they have done for their Nation. It was found that we have taken many services from our Nation India but in return we had not given much. In order to narrow down the gap we thought of forming an NGO which will be our vehicle for the fulfillment of our and many others dreams.
We started with collection of money from our salary and accumulated to start our projects for “AGNI”—A Dream for Great Nation India. The books and works of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam were a great inspiration to the group and hence the group decided to coin the group as “AGNI".
Our dream and our effort were formally communicated to Dr. Kalam and we were fortunate enough to get the blessings of Dr. A. P. J Abdul Kalam via electronic mail and later we received a letter of blessing from the Governor of West Bengal.
Friends from diverse backgrounds from Geologist to an Economist conceived the concept of “AGNI”. We had the dream to liberate India from the clutches of social bondage and thus the NGO, which was registered on 16th of July 2004, stands for the poorer section of the society primarily driven by health and education.
Till now we have organized Two Health Camps in a distant village of West Bengal in Nadia District, where villagers were treated free and given free medicines and free ECG and even free spectacles. In this short span we have organized a blood donation camp in Kolkata and now we are collecting Funds for helping the Tsunami affected people of South India. Shortly, we are going to start our Project on Education where one or two meritorious but poor student will be given full support for their study. Likewise, we have many a program and ways to reach out to the poorer section and help them to the maximum extent.
We have got some inspired members and volunteers who have felt the same way that we have felt and though most of them are well placed and are have a very busy schedule, they have the urge to stand by our cause and help us in whatever way they can.
