Renaissance Drug and Alcohol Recovery House, Inc.Renaissance Drug and Alcohol Recovery House, Inc., was founded as a non-for-profit corporation to provide housing, food, and support services for homeless, HIV/AIDS infected, and chemically affected individuals seeking recovery from illegal mood altering chemicals. Renaissance Shelter House seeks to development, implement, and manage decent, affordable housing and living arrangements for homeless and near homeless individuals and families. We recognize homeless individuals as our brothers and sisters and therefore we seek to reverse policies and decisions that have caused the homeless and unaffordable housing crisis. We will continue to advocate for new policies that can alleviate homelessness/unaffordable housing now and in the future. Need Assessment: Approximately 60,000 or more people are homeless in Chicago. 109 Shelter providing 1,500 beds every night. NIMBY - Not In My Backyard. Current shelters are finding it increasingly difficult to renew leases. Studies have concluded that 80% of women have been raped before or during their homelessness. Recent studies suggest that homelessness is becoming intergenerational as more and more children grow up in a climate of poverty. Renaissance is not a shelter, it is a home for as long as the resident needs a home. Lack of access to quality mental health care/substance abuse treatment. Limited job training opportunities. Renaissance will provide an ongoing, supportive, environment, which is sorely needed by individuals who are more likely to become overwhelmed by daily living. Renaissance will secure and rehab abandoned property, solely for the purpose of providing decent, affordable housing for currently homeless families in danger of homelessness. Renaissance will provide space for support group meetings, community meetings, and other seminars and workshops that may be of value to residents. Renaissance are in need of many things to help get this program started: Money (of course) to rehab or lease a new facility, Computers and the like equipment (for training purpose use), Vehicles (cars, vans,), Properties for rehab. Renaissance is a nonprofit 501(C)(3) corporation. your gift is tax-deductible. |
