Poder Learning CenterPoder Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, educational organization located in the predominantly Mexican immigrant community of Pilsen/La Villita in Chicago. Student/Community Profile
Classes are open to all on a first-come, first-served basis. Poder Learning Center maintains an open door policy in all its classes. Staff: 26 (4 full-time, 10 part-time, 12 volunteers) Tuition/Funding: Programs are provided tuition-free with the help of private gifts, grants from foundations, corporations, and individual benefactors as well as numerous student and other volunteer efforts. Technology: Modern computer technology augments innovative classroom instruction in all programs. 4 computer labs, housing 72 personal computers, are used daily by every student enrolled regardless of prior educational experience. Facility: Poder Learning Center is located at 1637 South Allport Street in the heart of the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. The facility has 4 classrooms, 2 multi-purpose computer lab areas, and an administrative office. In 2002, a satellite site was added in West Pilsen. Board of Directors: Poder Learning Center is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and assisted by a development director and board. Visit the Poder Learning Center home page. |
