The Mission of Global Committee Commemorating King Days is to establish an innovative, consciousness raising alternative to traditional methods of problem solving, in the areas of racial harmony, violence prevention and cultural co-existence, by spreading the Principles of WAO (pronounced way-o) WeAreOne in Humanity; utilizing the Days of Respect Concept, 3-R Rule (Reading, Respect and Responsibility) Saturday School and the Children's Coalition of Conscience Clinical Curriculum.

Definition of the Days of Respect Concept:

3 visually affirmed non heroic, non sectarian, non partisan, Consciousness Days of unity, respect and remembrance that coincide with Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's birth (January 15), death (April 4) and Dream March on Washington (August 28) to culturally capture and historically preserve from the Subjugated Race point of view, the 3 key Principles of the Civil Rights Renaissance of the 1960's (that period of time from 1955-1965): human and civil rights, non violence and spiritual/moral principles of righteousness, justice, peace and peoplehood.

Global Committee's long range goal is to help reintroduce and pass Illinois House Bill 0017, introduced by Illinois State Representative Mary E. Flowers. HB 0017 amends 105 ILCS 5/27-20.4 (1961) Black History Study School Code Mandate to include: the 3 visually affirmed Commemorative Days of Respect (D.o.R.) unit of instruction to study and practice the 3 key principles of the American Civil Rights Renaissance of the 1960's, by adding the D.o.R. on the School Calendar and Add the March on Washington Dream Speech of August 28, 1963 and President Barack Obama's "Yes We Can Speech" of November 4, 2008 with the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863 to the School Curriculum. Preserving these important milestones in the American African's struggle against unjust laws of segregation and poverty, while reinforcing the values that bind us together as a Nation, is not just Black History but it is American History that should be told.

Dream Day Vision Quest for PeaceMakers from Tots to Teens

Global Committee Commemorating King Days will celebrate its 26th annual August 28- Dream Day Vision Quest. Dream Day is one of the 3 visually affirmed Days of Respect Concept that historically preserves and culturally captures the 3 key Principles of the American Civil Rights Renaissance of the 1960's.

Black and White Colors are worn on Dream Day to visually affirm spiritual and moral principles of righteousness, justice, peace and cultural co-existence in the Spirit of WAO, which means WeAreOne. This year's theme is “Dream Day Vision Quest for PeaceMakers from Tots to Teens.”

Global Committee's Founding President, EvAngel Mamadeelove YHWHnewBN, whose 65th Birthday is August 28th conceived the “Violence is a Virus” Initiative and the Days of Respect Concept, is celebrating 60 years as a Freedom Fighter. Mamadeelove conceived the idea for Emmett Till Road/71st Street, wrote the ordinance, lobbied and financed a 3-1/2 year crusade to Resurrect the Legacy of Till that was buried for 30 years, to teach tolerance and children's history. She also, put in the proposal to the Chicago Board of Education that changed the name of McCosh Elementary to Emmett Till Math and Science Academy.

Questors will assemble at Fenger High School in Chicago, Illinois at 8:00a.m. and Quest to the PeaceMakers Wall of Respect for Life, 342 West 111th Street, Chicago, Illinois, the site where Derrion Albert was killed. Questors, in a Silent, Sacred Salute, will carry the names of the students that enrolled last September but won't be returning this year; not because they dropped out but were taken out by violence.

Global Committee invites all youngsters to take the “Violence is a Virus PeaceMakers Pledge” in the name of a slain sibling, friend or classmate and pledge themselves to live a life without violence and work for a world that respects life and the rights of others.

The PeaceMakers Activity has 3 steps:

  1. The youngsters will take a Violence is Virus PeaceMakers Pledge, while soaking their hands in oil.
  2. Select the paint: red for ages up to 9, black for ages 10-14 and green for 15-19 year olds.
  3. Place their handprint on the Wall of Respect for Life and on construction paper to keep in a frame at their homes
PeaceMakers Impact Statements of 100 words or less will be put in a book and read at the Violence is Virus Citywide Salute follow up on Columbus Day, October 11, 2010, the first anniversary of the Shoe Sole Salute to Derrion Albert.

Nearby churches have donated oil to keep the paint from sticking to the hands of the PeaceMakers, while they take the Violence is Virus Pledge.

Ariana Jones, ho was shot and her cousin Tanaja Stokes was killed as they jumped rope in front of their house, has been invited to take the Violence is a Virus PeaceMakers Pledge in the name of her cousin. Jonathan Jackson has been invited to take the Pledge in the name of his twin brother, who he accidentally killed, playing with a loaded gun. Mamadeelove believes that knowing their loved one is a peacemaker in heaven and they are peacemaker on earth, will provide closure while keeping the bond of love connected.

The other 2 Days of Respect are January 15-Humanitarian Day, white colors, principles of human and civil rights and April 4-Victims of Violence Wholly Day, black colors, visually affirm the principles of non violence. Global Committee is working with legislators to put the Days of Respect on the School Calendar.

All of the youngsters taking the “Violence is a Virus PeaceMakers Pledge” will receive a free Pledge Card to keep in their wallet that says, “violence is a virus, it starts in the heart, grows in the head and is acted out in the hand. I pledge to use my head, heart and hands to help and not harm others.

Mamadeelove's motto is: “If you love people into shape instead of just whipping them into shape, they will stay in shape.”
