What Is Appanoose County Animal Lifeline Inc.?
We are the local humane society consisting of a group of concerned people who are determined to end the tragic pet over population by preventing the births of unwanted animals.
We assist with spaying and neutering by helping those who otherwise would be unable to afford the entire cost of the surgery.
Since February, 1991 we have helped spay and neuter over 300 pets, thus preventing thousands of homeless pets from being born: born to be dumped out in the country to cruelly starve to death: born to be picked up from the streets only to be put down by a bullet in the head.
Our hope is that more people will show their pets they care by not letting them go through life having litter after litter.
The Iowa legislature has passed a law requiring that all animals adopted from shelters be sterilized.
We take in homeless animals and care for them until we can find them a good loving home.
Our ultimate goal is to have an animal shelter built in the country which can be shared by the county, city of Centerville and the surrounding towns.
Our desire is for everyone to work together hand-in-hand for the humane treatment of the animals.
