Village12Village12 is a sustainable project development organization based in the Dominican Republic. By utilizing local and international volunteers, our highly structured program is designed to initiate projects that cost-efficiently and effectively address identified developmental gaps that correspond to the 12 elements of community. Our goal is to initiate sustainable projects to, over time, fulfill all developmental gaps in the 12 elements of community. After performing an extensive community assessment, we identified many developmental gaps. From these gaps, we selected three projects to start with. We will add additional programs to meet the developmental gaps as we build our capacity: Agricultural Garden People in Muņoz do not have enough food. Village12 Volunteers are planting diverse range of crops at Suncamp, our base, and in the batey. We want to educate locals how to grow enough healthy food to feed all people in Munoz. Sanitation Improvement There are not enough toilets in Muņoz. Village12 is designing a low-cost bamboo composting toilet that can be b built throughout the community. This project will improve sanitation and produce compost which can be used with the agriculture initiative. Healthcare Education
There is not enough general medical care in Muņoz. Village12 is creating a curriculum to teach local families about nutrition, hygiene, first aid, sex education, early childhood care and general healthcare.
