The Phyllis Phund
The Phyllis Phund is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping families with children diagnosed with Down syndrome.
Name of the Foundation
Known for her playful spirit, Phyllis Maria Mitra was a wonderful and loving mother of 5 children and 6 grandchildren. She was extremely generous with all of her children and grandchildren. She had a heart of gold and and tried to help everyone who needed it. She passed away suddenly in 2008 and in an effort to keep her memory alive, we have fashioned this foundation in her name.
Reason for the Foundation
Phyllis' grandson, Angelo Michael Mitra, was diagnosed with Down Syndrome in December 2010. This foundation was formed so that Phyllis would also be able to give to Angelo even in her physical absence. She will always be an angel watching over Angelo and all other children with Down's syndrome.
Our Mission
To provide them with educational resources to help them both financially and developmentally through government programs, local organizations and research institutions.
Our Purpose
All monies raised will go to the Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation to help fund advancements in biomedical research so children with Down syndrome can lead full and more independent lives.
