Mukti for Social DevelopmentThe Mukti movement started in 2003 in Sunderbans delta of West Bengal by few energetic idealists who envisioned a world, where hunger was unheard of and health and education were basic rights. "Jodi tor daak shune keu na aase, tobe ekla cholo re" (If they don't answer to thy call, walk alone. Open your mind and speak alone till it reaches the subconscious of all! ) was the mantra that these people believed in. Since its conception Mukti has grown into a successful organization, drawing dedicated volunteers from around the world, who are leading various projects that help boost local economy, education health and culture. Mukti believes in sustainable growth and development in the rural areas by using non-arable lands. It undertook Coconut Plantation project in Sunderban, where coconuts will be grown in high saline lands that are otherwise unusable. There are myriad NGOs that are currently active for rural development in India. What is Mukti's uniqueness? Many NGOs have got the funds but do not have access to the remotest, underdeveloped areas. Mukti's grassroot level volunteers are bridging these two groups; the donors and the recipients. Visit the Mukti for Social Development home page. |
