T.E.A.R.S. International, Inc.T.E.A.R.S. International, Inc. -- "To Educate All Responsible Societies" -- is a non-profit international voluntary foundation dedicated to assisting children and their families who are innocent victims of gang violence and violent crimes. As late as 1990, very little was being done to assist innocent victims. Founder Gigi Greene started the foundation after Cindy Rodriguez, 12 years old, was crippled during a drive-by shooting. The family was in desperate need of support and care. Gigi formed a group of dedicated people to do something about this. T.E.A.R.S. provides burial and financial assistance, housing relocation (when necessary), disabled medical equipment, family counseling, referral services, transportation, and works closely with Social Services. Another strategic objective is to educate and inform gang members on how gang violence and criminal activities negatively affect our communities, innocent victims, and their lives. This program helps both innocent victims of gang violence and gang members who live in the urban and metropolitan communities. T.E.A.R.S. provides special seminars with participation and employment opportunities. Under the directions of Ms. Gigi Greene, T.E.A.R.S. has implemented an on going Violence Prevention Campaign to educate the urban and metropolitan communities of gang related activities, violence, victimization, tagging as well as their cause and affects on our communities. T.E.A.R.S. communicates with all mass media, encourages community organizations, agencies, political groups, and churches to support and educate the general public as well as encourage members to assist the innocent victims. T.E.A.R.S. goals and objectives are: Striving to defeat gang violence of all kinds, defeat the increase in gang violence, the infliction of injury(s) and even death upon high-risk youths, retain a roster of specialists in the field of trauma injury. To build a fully-functional hospital-clinic that features a trauma unit, physical rehabilitation therapy unit, mental/emotional health unit, diagnostic service unit and more with other buildings to house a theatre, a statistical clearinghouse, the outreach program, and T.E.A.R.S. administrative staff. Provide other programs with supplemental funds so that innocent victims between the ages of 1-19 years can receive the best of medical devices such as wheel chairs, bubble beds, and items presently not covered by "Social Services", Medical Care, Victims Assistance, and Physical Therapy Clinics. Mount campaigns to urge industries and business to increase job opportunities in the lower and fixed income communities. Mount campaigns to urge the entertainment industries to be more responsible when producing gang related shows. For more information on: T.E.A.R.S. International Inc. T.E.A.R.S.
