Severely Flawed Environmental Report Puts Desert At Risk. Conservation groups warn water project may devastate wildlife and National Park Environmentalists warn that state and federal agencies in California are fast-tracking a controversial proposal to drain up to 652 billion gallons of water from an aquifer that supports the fragile desert ecosystems of Mojave National Preserve and at least four nearby wilderness areas.
