Salud Para La Gente, Inc.
Salud Para La Gente, Inc., is a community health center located in the Pajaro Valley of Santa Cruz and Monterey County in the mid-coastal area of California. This area is a rich agriculture community that employ's 40,000 farmworkers during the peak of the harvest season. The farmworkers and their families migrant mostly from Mexico. They suffer from a plethora of unmet health care needs that includes diabetes, asthma, failure to thrive, imparementprenatal services, dental problems, vision impairment, skin diseases, and uncontrolled infections. Most of the farmworkers are uninsured and lack resources to pay for care. "Salud" provides comprehensive accessible health care services, irregardless of the patients ability to pay. Services are offered in the evening and week-ends to accommodate the working population. The services include medical, dental, laboratory, vision, family counseling, child health examinations, HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, and community health outreach services.
