Luna's Light Scholarship - Scripps Polster Breast Care Center
This scholarship fund was created to give access and enable under served women in San Diego, Ca. going through chemotherapy to obtain wigs, hair alternatives, wig care products and other items available at The Brighter Side Boutique. This fund allows these women to have an empowering experience at this amazing place run by extraordinary women.
The fund was started when my mother "experienced" The Brighter Side after discovering she had breast cancer (Dec. 2000) and would lose her hair from chemotherapy. In this challenging time for my mother, The Brighter Side provided her with the personal, supportive comfort choosing a wig and cutting, styling and fitting her wig "perfectly" for her. The first day my mother wore her wig in public began as one of the most emotionally traumatic events. It then changed in Nordstrom, when two unknown women came up to my mom and asked her where she had her hair cut. To my mother's amazement, she looked at me and said, "I wish every woman who had to go through this, could have an uplifting experience like I did at The Brighter Side."
My mother's words and experience she had deeply inspired me to create the Luna's Light Scholarship Fund administered by Scripps Polster Breast Care Center. This is an opportunity for people to make a huge difference in a woman's life during a time when she needs all the self-confidence, and courage that is possible. Creating inspiration, unity and love is what makes The Luna's Light Scholarship Fund a reality.
