InnVision is dedicated to helping individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and homelessness. Working in partnership with community volunteers, we provide a continuum of care that includes short and long term housing and comprehensive support services. Our focus is on creating positive outcomes of self-sufficiency and independent living.

InnVision began as the San Jose Urban Ministry, founded as a non-profit organization in 1973 to serve the homeless of Santa Clara (Silicon) Valley. The agency grew rapidly in the 1990's to meet the needs of the rapidly growing homeless population, and expanded to provide a continuum of care: from basic day services, to emergency shelter, through case management, job training, and transitional housing. Last year, InnVision assisted close to 9,000 individuals.

It is estimated that close to 20,000 individuals in Santa Clara Valley will be homeless for a part of this year. The most rapid increase has been seen in families with young children. Real estate and rental prices continue to climb in SiliconValley. The vacancy rate for apartments is less than 2%. These factors have increased homelessness among families and "the working poor."

InnVision's Programs:
The Commercial Street Inn - emergency shelter for women and children
The Montgomery Street Inn - emergency shelter and transitional housing for men
The Julian Street Inn - emergency shelter and support for adults with mental illness
Community Inns - rotating emergency shelter for men
The Cecil White Center - drop-in multiservice center for the community
The Georgia Travis Center - drop-in multiservice center for women and children
Family Place - educational program with childcare for low-income mothers
Project Restore - vocational training business enterprise
Transitional Homes - longer-term, residential program for women and children leaving shelter.
InnVision is funded through a combination of corporate, foundation, individual, church, civic, and government sources, including the United Way.
