Homosexual Youth Positive Influence, HYPI
Homosexual Youth Positive Influence) has grown allot this year. H.Y.P.I. is a grass roots, independent, nonprofit LGBTQ organization committed not only to contributing to the knowledge base about Queer Youth development, but also committed to translating high-quality research on children and youth into practical ideas, tools, services, and resources for families, neighborhoods, schools, organizations, and communities. It is the next level of gay activism in the community for those whom have graduated from gay youth groups that have an age cut off after 24 years old. On average H.Y.P.I. members are between the ages of 21-40 and are successful in the career path of their choice. H.Y.P.I. founder Mikey Cohen believes that blending research and practice is the best way to find out what kids really need, learn how to best meet those needs, and get that information into the hands of the people who can make a difference. "We're also an organization committed to advancing the well being of adolescents and children that's where the "benefiting" part comes in. So a lot of what H.Y.P.I. aims for is making a positive difference for queer youth." Cohen added. Recently we seek to promote global friendship and global learning. The organization is in the process of writing away for grants to provide a cyber center for troubled and homeless LGBTQ youth. Our much needed success came from our new Life Coaching Courses led by Lisa Gavensdale, Self Improvement Workshop Leader whom volunteers her services to H.Y.P.I.’s board of directors. Life Coaching with the LGBTQ Youth allows them to utilize powerful imagery & affirmations for developing a new improved mindset, focusing on the art of inviting change into their lives and not living in the past. Mindsets are envisioned as "power hats." Thus H.Y.P.I.’s youth have developed a new self-profile of caring for themselves at higher levels in all areas of their life while seeing themselves in a new, positive light. They have became comfortable viewing new possibilities of change in ever aspect of their life, without letting peoples viewpoints and previous labels of them stop them from achieving their dreams!
