Healing the Children CaliforniaHealing the Children California is 501 (C) 3, volunteer organization in the state of California. Healing the Children California is dedicated to assisting sick and injured children with donated medical services. Healing the Children California has four areas of service. 1. Assisting American children who have medical problems. For the most part, American children already receive excellent medical. However, we are able to help American children by arranging transportation to medical care, requesting reduced or donated charges for those costs not covered by insurance or by supplying them with medical equipment. Because of our tax-exempt status, we are able to collect funds on behalf of particular children. The entire amount collected goes directly to meeting the medical needs of the child. 2. Bringing foreign children to the United States, called the Medical Stateside Program. The conditions we normally treat are heart, orthopedic, plastic reconstruction and eye. We are not limited to these areas, but consider each child on an individual basis. We locate doctors and hospitals willing to donate their services. Airlines are contacted to seek donated air transportation. When a parent cannot travel with the child, we arrange for a licensed foster family to volunteer their home and love. Once the child’s medical condition is treated, the child is returned to his homeland and family. 3. The third area of service is that of sending medical teams to foreign lands. The teams provide specialized medical care for particular children. Our foreign contacts arrange the hospital facilities and locate the children needing the help. Healing the Children California raises the funds to cover the costs of transportation and housing. Doctors and nurses collect supplies necessary for the trip. Rotary International assists with grants for equipment and supplies to use or leave behind in the foreign country. Besides treating children, our medical personnel also provide training whenever they can. 4. The final area of service is that of Special Projects. Our philosophy is that we ought to put ourselves out of business wherever and whenever possible. By equipping, supplying, and training we can give people the ability to care for their own children. Because we lack great funding of our own, we have used our influence to get others to meet the needs we know exist with our foreign friends. Visit the Healing the Children California home page. |
