An estimated 1.4 million children in Ghana cannot afford to go to school, a problem that will have lifelong consequences for them. By empowering girls through education, they are less likely to be exploited, have an increased participation in civic affairs, have smaller families, and have better-educated children. Educating females is one of the most successful paths out of poverty.
