Center for Citizen InitiativesThe Center for Citizen Initiatives (CCI) is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering Russian citizens to take responsibility for their personal futures and assisting Russia in its transition to a market-based economy and a civil society. The success or failure of this transition is unquestionably America's most important foreign policy challenge in the post-Cold-War era. On a grassroots level, every American citizen can play a small but important role in helping our former "enemies" through this historic transition. The individual contributions of time, hospitality and training provided by thousands of American citizens have allowed CCI to implement effective, low-cost foreign assistance programs. CCI's US volunteers and hosts have come from all 50 American states. All of CCI's programs are targeted towards empowering citizens, not officials, to take responsibility for societal change. The Center welcomes volunteers who want to help contribute to this historic mission. CCI's current programs focus on US-based management training for Russian entrepreneurs, microenterprise development in St. Petersburg, volunteer small-business consultants working in Russia, and food security & sustainable agriculture projects in Russia's rural areas.
